12. Juniper Berries
The coniferous plant called the Juniper produces a seed cone that resembles a berry in look, shape and size. When crushed, the berries emit aromas of pine, pepper and citrus. Juniper berries are best known as the predominant spice used in gins, but are also used to bring a pine and floral component to charcuterie projects like Pancetta and coppa.
