5. Dextrose

Commonly referred to as glucose, dextrose is a synthetic sugar that is synthetically derived corn and refined. It is fine grained and dissolves easier than the standard granulated sugar. It is less sweet than sucrose, registering 70% on the sweetness scale, and is used most often in salamis and other sausages that require fermentation, because it provides a great energy source.
